The increasing quantity of waste in our oceans and waterways has become a major cause for concern among all of us. Mobilization has become urgent to preserve our environment for both the present and future generations.
Over 80% of the waste found in the water originates from inland sources. Whether discarded intentionally or not, waste left in nature has a significant impact on wildlife and vegetation.
The issue of waste in the mountains is crucial. Raising awareness among users about littering and taking concrete actions through organized clean-up efforts are essential. Reducing the transportation of waste through waterways and preventing its fragmentation into invisible particles that become impossible to recover is vital. These microplastics gradually enter the food chain and have a considerable impact on human health.
Created in 2001, Summit Foundation is a non-profit foundation recognised as promoting the public interest. The objective of Summit Foundation is to reduce the environmental impact of human activity in high traffic locations by proposing concrete solutions and awareness-raising methods, both to public bodies and to companies.

Summit Foundation is at the origin of the very recognizable bubble design promoting good practices that you can find in many strategic locations in Switzerland with more than 1’200 bubbles installed generating around 12 million views a year. In addition to the awareness program, Summit Foundation launched multiple clean-up actions in the mountains collecting more than 160 tonnes of waste.
